To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Physikalisch-Meteorologisches
Observatorium Davos (PMOD/WRC), a conference dedicated to solar UV radiation
research will be held at the Congress Centre Davos, Switzerland, from 18 to 20 September 2007. The conference will
bring together scientists interested in solar UV radiation, with topics ranging from measurements and modelling,
to the influence of UV radiation on humans and climate.

Special Issue ACP
A special issue entitled "One century of solar ultraviolet research" has
been approved by the Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics Journal (ACP),
http://www.copernicus.org/EGU/acp/acp.html.
From 18 September 2007 on
authors can submit their contributions by using the online registration
form on the ACP website:
http://www.copernicus.org/EGU/acp/ms_registration.html.
The dead-line
for submission is 30 November 2007. Note that during the registration
process it is important that the correct special issue is chosen. The
publication fee of about 25 Euro per page is not covered by the
registration fee and has to be paid by the authors of the manuscript.
Location
The conference will be held at the Kongresszentrum Davos, Promenade 92, in Davos Platz.
Frequent public transport between the Conference centre and the hotels is available from 6:00 to 23:30 which is free to
hotel guests. Consider that walking distances in Davos are short, and any location downtown can be reached within less
than a 30-minute walk.
Venue
The conference will be held in Davos, a famous tourist
resort in the Swiss alps, at 1580 m.a.s.l. (www.davos.ch).
The nearest international airport is Zürich, located approximately
3 hours from Davos. The recommended transport between Zürich airport
and Davos is by train, which runs every hour (http://www.sbb.ch)
Temperatures in Davos in September can become chilly, especially in the evenings; please do not forget to bring some warm clothes.
Currency and exchange rates
The local currency is the Swiss Franc (CHF). At current exchange rates, i.e. 17 July 2006, 1 CHF= 0.80 USD = 0.64 EURO.
Credit cards are accepted in most restaurants and shops. Cash payment is in Swiss Francs but most restaurants and hotels
will accept EURO currency. There are several Swiss banks within walking distance in Davos where all major currencies
will be exchanged. Bank hours are Mon-Fri, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
All banks are closed during lunch time.
